About Me

Hello! My name is Emily Garrigan and I am a recent Biology graduate from York College of Pennsylvania. I have experience in wildlife rehabilitation, environmental education, and wildlife conservation research. I have experience working with invertebrates, mammals, raptors, songbirds, waterfowl, and reptiles.

Goals

My short-term goals are to continue gaining experience working with native and exotic animals. I plan to move into a graduate/doctoral program in either wildlife biology, conservation biology. My long-term goals include continuing research and public education on the value of native species. I also plan to become a licensed wildlife rehabilitator and open my own center to continue serving the community and Pennsylvania's wildlife.

Why Conservation?

I have chosen to focus my research on wildlife conservation after getting hands-on experience with the creatures that share our planet. Through my education, I know the importance of the biodiversity around us, however, it wasn't until I knew the individuals that I was truly inspired. Once you see how human actions are affecting species and you connect with these animals, it inspires you to do whatever you can to help ease the stress on these lives so full of personality. To rehabilitate an animal and release it back into the ecosystem to fill its biological purpose is life changing.
